Teror orang tak dikenal atau OTK menyerang tempat ibadah dan pesantren terjadi lebih dari satu kali di Jawa Timur. Namun, Pimpinan Nahdlatul Ulama meminta masyarakat agar tak terprovokasi.
Di Lamongan, OTK dikabarkan menyerang KH Hakam Mubarok di Pesantren Karangasem Paciran, Lamongan, pada Minggu, 18 Februari 2018. Tetapi Kepolisian Daerah Jawa Timur membantah bahwa OTK itu menyerang Kiak Hakam. Setelah diselidiki, OTK itu ialah NT (23 tahun) bin S, warga Cirebon, Jawa Barat.
NT diduga mengalami gangguan kejiwaan sejak kecil. Dia sudah meninggalkan rumah orang tuanya di Cirebon sejak empat tahun lalu. “Yang bersangkutan tidak menyerang, tapi melawan saat akan dipindahkan,” kata Kabid Humas Polda Jatim, Kombes Pol Frans Barung Mangera, pada Senin, 19 Februari 2018.
